Are
you registered to vote?
The Electoral Commission estimates one in seven Londoners
is not registered to vote. Find out how to register in time for
the local elections in May 2006.
Millions in London are eligible to vote, but those not on the
electoral register will be unable to have their say in the forthcoming
elections.
People who completed and returned their annual registration form
- delivered to homes last autumn - should already be on the electoral
register.
But people can fall off the register without realising - if they
have recently moved home or were away during the annual canvas,
for instance.
Anyone who is unsure whether they are registered to vote can
check by contacting their local authority.
Luckily there's still time to register your vote - you can call
the free helpline on 0800 3 280 280, or go to www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
The website explains how to register, how to download and complete
the form, and where to send it.
