Common types of benefit fraud include not telling us:
• about other money coming in, including earnings
• when couples are living together as husband and
wife, as civil partners and as same sex couples
• about any savings they may have
Fraudsters also try to claim benefit when they are not living
at the address they have given, such as:
• when they are living abroad
• after they have moved
• giving false addresses to make many claims
60% of all benefit fraud comes from fraudulent claims for
Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing
Benefit. We take benefit fraud seriously and we are continuously
reducing and tackling fraud.
